Who or What is Will O’ the Whisp?


Wikipedia defines:

Will-o'-the-Wisp as a mysterious "Ghost light" with no determinable source, associated with spirits and specters. Will-o'-the-Whisp or Ignis Fatuus (Latin) from ignis ("fire") + fatuus ("foolish"), refers to the ghostly flickering or dancing lights sometimes seen at night or twilight. These apparitions are known for their mischievous trickery. Much folklore surrounds this phenomenon.


Jeff Hardy’s version of Will O’ the Whisp:

In the mid to late 90’s before Jeff Hardy was contracted to the WWE he traveled the southeast wrestling circuit as the unpredictable masked villain Will O’ the Whisp. The high flying Will O’ was best know for is running feud with Surge (Matt Hardy). The heated feud ended when Will O’ unmasked to reveal to his brother Matt that it had been Jeff the whole time. But the hooded character always stayed near and dear to Jeff’s heart. Much like the Tiger Mask legacy in Japan of passing down the masked tradition, on December 31st. 2008 Hardy gave the nod to another promising young talent to dawn the Will O’ the Whisp identity. Will O’ the Whisp II has vowed to do Hardy’s creation proud and to bring a whole new experience to today’s wrestling fans.
